(AP) A Nebraska prisoner already serving a life sentence for murder has been indicted on a new first-degree murder charge accusing him of killing his cellmate last year at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln. Angelo Bol, 31, was indicted this week in the November death of 20-year-old Kevin Carter, the Lincoln Journal Star reported. Authorities have not released details on how Carter was killed, saying only that staff members found him the evening of Nov. 6 unresponsive on his cell floor covered with a sheet. Carter was serving a 6-to-9-year sentence for taking part in the beating and stabbing of a man in Douglas County in 2019. It wasn t clear how Carter came to be placed in a cell with Bol, who is serving a life sentence for the 2014 shooting death a co-worker at a Gibbon meatpacking plant.

Inmate indicted for 1st-degree murder after death of cellmate

May 28, 2021 11:29 am LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) A man has been indicted for 1st-degree murder in the death of a Nebraska inmate. Thursday, a grand jury reviewed the death of Kevin Carter, an inmate at the Department of Correctional Services. Carter was serving a six to nine-year sentence out of Douglas County for terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony. On Nov. 6, 2020 he was found dead in his cell. The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) investigated his death and passed on their findings to the grand jury. With this information, the grand jury indicted Carter’s former cellmate, Angelo Bol for 1st-degree murder.

American Quarter Horse Association to stay in Amarillo

City of Amarillo officials expressed excitement regarding the change in conversation surrounding the home of the American Quarter Horse Association after the council approved an action item concerning the association on Tuesday.  “We are going to celebrate today as we change the phrase…’please stay AQHA’ to ‘hooray AQHA,’” Mayor Ginger Nelson said during a Tuesday afternoon news conference. “Amarillo is proud to be your home.”  During Tuesday’s meeting, the Amarillo City Council approved a location incentive agreement from the Amarillo Economic Development Corp. to keep the home of the AQHA in Amarillo for 10 years after there were conversations that the association was moving to Fort Worth.
