Auriemma passes Summitt
With it being “We Back Pat Week,” it was only fitting that the late, legendary Tennessee Lady Volunteers coach Pat Summitt was honored and remembered for her accomplishments when UConn Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma surpassed her in career wins on Tuesday.
With the Huskies’ 103-35 beatdown of the Butler Bulldogs, Auriemma secured his 1,099th victory as a head coach, one more than Summitt’s 1,098.
Head coach Kellie Harper and the Tennessee Lady Volunteers fell to Geno Auriemma and the Connecticut Huskies in Hartford last season. In 2020-21, Rae Burrell, Rennia Davis and Jordan Horston of Tennessee hope for a different outcome against Paige Bueckers, Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Christyn Williams.
