RNZ revealed this morning that a child spent more than nine weeks in a Waikato hospital because the agency failed to find them a suitable placement.
In documents posted online by the cyber attackers who targeted the DHB, staff said the youngster did not require admission to hospital for any medical reason and was not unwell.
RNZ has reviewed the documents as they raise questions of public interest importance.
Davis said he was concerned about the claims regarding the care of this child. I have asked Oranga Tamariki for a briefing on the situation and I expect all issues raised to be investigated thoroughly, he said.
Oranga Tamariki confirmed the agency received a complaint from DHB staff.

The Minister for Children Kelvin Davis is calling for an investigation into the case and advocates say it is disturbing and outrageous - and validates calls to scrap the ministry as a whole.
Since RNZ broke the story, Oranga Tamariki - which initially would not provide comment on the case - sent a statement this afternoon apologising and admitting it did not do the best for the child.
As part of a series this week, RNZ is looking at efforts to ensure schools and teachers are using reo and tikanga every day. Today, teachers tell RNZ that learning te reo is making them into better educators.
This month saw the start of the first courses in a $100 million push to teach te reo and tikanga to 40,000 early childhood and school teachers over the next four years.

The courses come as learning and speaking te reo have essentially become compulsory for teachers - they have to attest to using the language in order to renew their practising certificates, and the government wants all schools using it every day.

The Blues also have a slight doubt over Jim Magilton who has a sore foot, although manager Joe Royle is hopeful he will be involved.
Youngster Scott Mitchell has not played in the more recent friendlies and is out of Wednesday s match due to a groin injury.
