Norris School District s retiring superintendent replaced with board member, Kern High administrator

After 24 years with the district and six as superintendent, Norris School District superintendent Kelly Miller will be retiring at the end of the year. Board trustees didn t look far when choosing a new superintendent: Cy Silver, a recent Norris board trustee and Kern High School District administrator, will take the reins from Miller on Jan. 1. The announcement that Miller would be stepping down from the northwest elementary district with 3,900 students and Silver would be stepping up was made at a Nov. 18 board meeting. At the meeting, president Amanda Frank said the board made the decision so that the district would have a smooth transition.

Oakland County Urges COVID-19 Safety Until Vaccine Is Available

Reply(1) Pontiac, Michigan – Tuesday, Dec. 8, Oakland County leaders launched an updated public education campaign to encourage residents to remain vigilant about following health and safety measures that control the spread of COVID-19 as they wait for a vaccine to arrive. The goal of the effort, entitled The Only Way To Beat It Is To Face It, is to spread a message of hope amid the recent virus surge while highlighting the importance of continuing to follow guidelines to help keep fellow residents healthy and save lives, said Oakland County Executive David Coulter. Hope is on the horizon with a vaccine but until then it is only our actions that keep us safe, slow the spread of the virus, protect our health care workers and keep people alive, Coulter said. We re all in this together, and the campaign strives to rally everyone behind the practical steps we must continue to take.
