15-year-old girl critically injured after being struck by vehicle, official says

A 15-year-old girl was in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle Tuesday in Elizabeth, a city spokeswoman said.
The teen was hit around 1 p.m. at North Broad Street and North Avenue, where she was being picked up from school, according to spokeswoman Kelly Martins, who said the vehicle remained at the scene.
No other information was immediately available, the spokeswoman said. Police were investigating.

ELIZABETH, NJ A 15-year-old girl was struck by a car while being picked up from school, in Elizabeth, Tuesday early afternoon, according to Public Information Officer Kelly Martins.
The incident happened at around 1 p.m., at North Broad Street and North Avenue, Martins said. Right as she was being picked up another vehicle hit her. It remained on the scene.
The 15-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition with an injury to her head.

No injuries after shooting at popular N.J. mall, official says

A gun was fired inside the Mills at Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth on Saturday but no one was injured, according to a city spokeswoman.
The shooting happened outside of the Saks Fifth Avenue store, said city spokeswoman Kelly Martins. There were no victims and the suspect fled in a vehicle afterwards, authorities said.
The mall remained open as police investigated and reviewed surveillance video, she added.
