Every week, University of Wisconsin-Superior students connect with residents at Harbor House Crisis Centers, a ministry of Faith United Methodist Church, through art.
They’ve never met, but they’ve collaborated on three different projects already. The UWS students send their own completed artwork and a letter to their “art buddy.” Harbor House clients and staff are asked to respond with a similar work and a postcard. Think of them as art pen pals.

This working-class, super-majority Latino city remains the brown-skinned stepchild of a county where the split between wealthy suburbs and agricultural towns is straight outta the 1950s. Glen Ellyn officials have spent at least two years planning for downtown revitalization efforts, but there are still unanswered questions about the timing of the streetscape project.
Trustees could decide next month whether to move ahead with the multimillion-dollar project in May by first replacing underground utilities serving restaurants and shops in the south end of the downtown. The below-ground infrastructure improvements would launch a multiyear effort to bolster the central business district with reconfigured parking, new sidewalks, trees, lighting, and midblock crosswalks.
