BELL COUNTY, TX â Do you qualify for a COVID-19 vaccine, but canât seem to get your hands on one? Chances are youâre not alone.
However, with the new Johnson & Johnson vaccine being shipped across the country Monday, it may become more accessible to Central Texans.
Up until this moment, public health districts have been at the helm of the coronavirus.
Employees have been updating community dashboards, organizing vaccine clinics and getting shots into Texans arms, just to name a few tasks.

As we start to see the number of cases and hospitalizations slowly go down in areas, a third COVID-19 vaccine has been approved.
Soon, local healthcare workers will be using another vaccine, the Johnson & Johnson single dose, in the fight against COVID-19.
âThis takes a lot of ease and worry off of people that they can just get their one dose and be done and be fully protected which is wonderful,â said Kelly Craine with the Waco-McLennan Health District.
Health officials say the Johnson & Johnson version is also easier to store than the other vaccines.

TEMPLE, TX â More advances were made in the fight against the coronavirus Saturday night as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the newest COVID-19 vaccine, a Johnson & Johnson shot, for emergency use.
However, the FDA giving the green light to Johnson & Johnson is just the first step in getting the vaccine into Texans arms.
Regardless, local health officials said theyâre excited about a third vaccine getting approved.
âI think the only thing that s holding us back now from vaccinating everyone who wants the vaccine is the doses,â Kelly Craine with the Waco-McLennan Public Health District said. âAnd Johnson & Johnson just gives us more options.â
