CBS Announces Fall 2021 Schedule CBS today announced its 2021-2022 primetime programming lineup of CBS Originals, featuring the expansion of television’s biggest franchises, the launch of a distinctive and highly “spirited” new comedy, plus bold scheduling moves on key nights. The new schedule includes four new dramas, two new comedies, special event programming, and 22 returning series. For 2020-2021, the Network finished #1 for the 13 th straight season, winning 18 of the past 19 seasons. While NCIS is chugging along into its 19th season, with a new Hawaii spinoff on the way, CBS is returning back to the Crime Scene Lab in Las Vegas. CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said the decision to bring back CSI for a sequel was partly due to nostalgia as well as the wave of true-crime series on streaming services.

CBS bets on franchises CSI, FBI, NCIS to keep people from cutting the cord

Credit: CBSViacom CBS will lean on the tried and true in the fall with new versions of “CSI,” “FBI” and “NCIS” as it looks to drive viewership with shows that already have a built-in audience. The Eye network will add “NCIS: Hawaii,” starring Vanessa Lachey; “CSI: Vegas,” a sequel to the original show; and “FBI: International,” which follows the FBI’s International Fly team, to its fall lineup. CBS move to double-down on these franchises comes as attention is shifting to streaming platforms, including its own Paramount+. By adding shows that are familiar to both consumers and advertisers, the hope is to keep loyalists tuning in to linear TV in some fashion.
