The occupational health nurse for Swampscott schools has been following 246 cases of students since Oct. 19 who are either COVID positive, close contacts, affected siblings or symptomatic students.  And she warns: The pandemic is spreading more quickly than ever. “These numbers are very alarming,” said Amanda Mulcahy, who presented a dire picture at the School Committee meeting on Dec. 9. “Things have rapidly increased. As of today at 8 a.m., there are 366 cases, with 20 new cases in just two days,” she added, referring to numbers in the town. “We’re still getting a lot of students coming into the buildings that are sick. With the numbers being so high, just please, please keep them home if they re sick.”
