“He said, ‘I think this mole is changing. It looks kind of funny,’” Jones, a physician assistant who lives in Wooster, Ohio, told TODAY.
“It went from the size of the end of a pencil to the size of a dime in probably a month-and-a-half… maybe a hairdresser might have known, but I wasn t getting haircuts. So if he hadn t noticed, I think things would have turned out very differently quickly.”

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer

DETROIT – It’s Melanoma Monday, a day set aside each year to help raise awareness about the risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
Experts said many people skipped skin cancer checks in the past year because of the coronavirus pandemic. One mother-to-be is grateful that she sought help when she did.
Caitlin Jones didn’t think the mole on the top of her head could be cancerous, especially since she had it biopsied four years earlier. Her husband said he knew something didn’t look right.

(NEW YORK) Melanoma Monday is the first Monday of National Melanoma Awareness Month, and with it, comes a reminder to prioritize your skin health.
Near the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Caitlin Jones, a 30-year-old physician’s assistant in Ohio, noticed a suspicious-looking mole on her scalp. Like many patients, she was concerned about going for an in-person appointment. But with some urging by her husband, she saw a dermatologist and was diagnosed with melanoma. Now, she has had surgery and is melanoma-free, and is grateful she sought medical care.
“I thought, this isn’t important enough to pursue right now,” said Jones.
