Two sheds and a shelter were set ablaze at Kemnay Small Bore Rifle Club, “100% destroying” everything inside. Witnesses reported an “unbelievably sized” explosion caused by burning gas canisters, with 18 fire-fighters needed to extinguish the flames.

And, although the Alford Valley narrow gauge railway in Aberdeenshire ceased carrying passengers in 1949 – and goods services subsequently came to an end on Hogmanay in 1965 – the line still boasts a mystique, which helps explain why Scottish filmmaker Fergus Cruickshank is creating a new work about this magical little route. He can remember it from the days when he was growing up in the area and enjoyed watching the trains pass by on their regular journeys.

Woman gets jail time for impaired driving, theft

Advertisement Jasmine Quewezance, 29, pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including impaired driving and theft. Crown attorney Caroline Lacey said that at approximately 9:30 a.m. on June 30, 2020, Blue Hills RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover just east of Kemnay. The caller said she saw the driver exit through a side door and start walking toward Brandon. Police caught up with Quewezance along the highway and saw her walking along the side of the road with an ambulance following her, Lacey said.
