GUWAHATI: An online event in relation with inauguration of National Green Corps (NGC)-Eco Club at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Khanapara was organised on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of students and teachers of the school along with a galaxy of dignitaries.
The prime objective of the event was to make K.V. Khanapara a part of the network of more than 1.5 lakh Eco Clubs of the country established under the scheme National Green Corps, a flagship campaign of the Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Govt. of India.
Coimbatore: Tirupur MP K Subbarayan on Monday requested the Union government to make Tamil a compulsory subject for students in classes I to X in Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in the state.
In a petition to Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Subbarayan said that most of the 49 Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in the state do not teach Tamil as a subject. “The schools have been following a three-language formula – English and Hindi as compulsory from Class I to XII. Sanskrit is taught from Class VI to VII and goes on to be optional till Class X. As per rules, if there are a minimum of 20 students who opt to learn Tamil, arrangements should be made to teach it. It is very partisan,” the petition said.

JHARKHAND: Driven by a desire to save the rural youth of his state, Jharkhand, from various forms of addiction, Ravi Shankar Sahni, a former Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable, took a resolve some five years ago Mujhe Kuch Karna Hai (I want to do something). And what he did, gave a new direction to the lives of these youngsters. He started training and guiding them so that they could join armed/paramilitary forces and serve the country.
