Close Bills for local control of tobacco haven t even been assigned to committees, though advocates say they would pass on the floor

With less than two weeks left in the 2021 legislative session, bills to let local governments regulate tobacco products are among the many that legislative leaders haven t even assigned to a committee.
The bills sponsors told Kentucky Health News that they think the bills may have been lost in the shuffle of a short session that has to write a budget amid a pandemic, plus severe weather that cost a week.Â

Show Transcript Good afternoon, everybody. Afternoon, Virginia. It s four o clock time. We come together about three days a week and remember that we re gonna get through this, and we re gonna get through this together. Today is gonna be pretty short. We re having to move our vaccine update to Thursday for a couple of reasons. First, uh, the federal government has not updated. What are allocation is gonna be next week for at least one of the vaccines. And second, we believe we re gonna have a major announcement on Thursday which will give us a chance to talk about it all together. Uh, I m happy to answer questions about it from those that have them at the end, but we believe that the Thursday update will be significant on mawr.
