Alberta is holding a referendum on whether Canada’s equalization payment program is fair and if the province should continue to observe daylight savings.
Equalization is one of Canada’s major transfer programs and is intended to help less prosperous provinces. The program was written into the Canadian Constitution in 1982 and is based on a province’s ability to raise revenue.
An online publication has been sent a cease-and-desist letter by the legal team of Alberta s premier over a story it ran alleging Jason Kenney and other top government officials broke the province s COVID-19 rules.
