KENDALLVILLE â Renowned bird biologist Les Beletsky provides a succinct description of each of the 250 birds profiled in his book, âBird Songs: 250 North American Birds in Song.â
On the Kendallville Public Library Adventure Walk in May, patrons will see a selection of the lavish full-color illustrations of each bird. Patrons will have access to a built-in digital audio player holding 250 corresponding songs and calls for each featured feathered friend if they check out the book from the library
The Adventure Walk in Rome City consists of nine stations that start at Grant Park and continue along a walkway to Kelly Park.
KENDALLVILLE â Postponed, but not canceled.
Kendallvilleâs Fairy, Gnome and Troll Festival is coming back for its second romp through the mystical, magical and fantastical.
The second annual festival â well, almost annual considering everything that happened in 2020 â will be back in downtown Kendallville on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Kendallville Area Chamber of Commerce sent out the announcement Tuesday afternoon that the wildly popular, family friendly event will return just a little later than its normal May run date.
The fairy festival was a new invention in 2019, piggy-backing off a downtown âfairy doorâ program that was launched in Kendallville. The small, decorative doors were mounted at businesses around the city with QR codes that can be scanned to take you to a website with a little story about a fairy family living at that location.
At Topeka Elementary School, Jen Kramerâs fourth grade students have new books â
in German â thanks to Leo Karst and his friend Nico who were winners on a game show in Germany.
Leo, who lives in Birkenfeld, Germany, near Stuttgart, was an AFS exchange student at East Noble High School for the 2015-2016 school year. Steve and Jen Kramer of Kendallville were his host parents.
Leo and Nico â both of whom have studied and traveled extensively abroad â decided to use their winnings to promote literacy and international understanding in communities with which they have a connection. Leo became the largest contributor â by far! â to Jenâs ongoing âBook Buddiesâ program, which for a number of years has involved people in the community sponsoring books for her students to keep.
KENDALLVILLE — The Kendallville Public Library and its Limberlost Branch in Rome City have announced the adult activities schedule for May. Here is the schedule:
KENDALLVILLE âThe Kendallville Public Library building is fully open, and library services are always available online. The staff works hard to provide the materials, services and activities that the community and patrons want and need, even when there isnât a pandemic.
In the past year or so, the library has added services like Curbside Pickup and Doorstep Delivery, made the Kendallville Farmerâs Market a destination where the library can reach out to the community, and created new collections to make life easier.
As KPL continues to increase its offerings, it is looking for community feedback. The staff would appreciate for everyone â with or without a library card â to take a brief survey to share what they know about the library, how they feel about it, and suggestions for additional services to be offered.
