As California state director for the BLM, I was proud to help shepherd the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP), a landmark agreement that struck a balance between the conservation of the California desert s natural values with the state s renewable energy production goals. The DRECP is a land use plan designed to balance conservation, recreation and renewable energy development on more than 10.5 million acres of public lands. Attempts to reopen and relitigate the current plan only serves to waste valuable time that is better spent on doing productive work.

Three sharks spotted at popular Coromandel beach Newshub 9/01/2021 Three small sharks have been spotted at Pauanui Beach in the Coromandel. A surf lifesaving spokesperson told Newshub the lifeguards asked all swimmers to get out of the water. Swimmers have been advised not to panic, as keeping out of the water for an hour from the last sighting is standard procedure. The sighting comes after 19-year-old Kaelah Marlow died on January 7 after being pulled from the water by emergency services at Waihi Beach, in what s thought to be a shark attack. Her death has been referred to the Coroner but initial indications are that she was bitten by a shark.

news Ireland eases Covid rules to allow household mixing © Getty Images Three households can meet together and the ban on travelling outside your county has been lifted Covid-19 restrictions in the Republic of Ireland have been eased allowing up to three households to mix with each other. Previously, households were not allowed to mix unless they were already in a bubble . People are also allowed to travel outside of the county that they live in, under the new rules which came into force at midnight. The measures are due to be in place for three weeks. However, government ministers in the Republic are likely to look at tightening restrictions again on 28, 29 or 30 December, Irish broadcaster RTÉ reports.
