What Brett Veach Is
Trades; Good!
By far the best area of his skillset. Through trades, Veach has gotten us Charvarius Ward, Frank Clark, Emmanuel Ogbah, Kendall Fuller, Cam Erving, and Jordan Lucas. Those all turned out well for what they are. Clark may not look great in hindsight, but at the time it was a very reasonable move. Then, he topped it all off with Orlando Brown, a true masterstroke.
Free Agency; ..Okay!
Veach has a tendency to overpay for guys that he really wants (see; Thuney, Hitchens, Watkins). However, it seemed like he overcorrected this offseason in his failure to upgrade the pass catching corps. Oh well. I can t knock him too much considering that he brought us Honey Badger. Also, he EXCELS at lottery ticket kind of guys, like Deandre Baker, Damien Williams, and Prince Tega.
What grades did Washington get on Day 2?
Solid picks or missed opportunities?

There is a long tradition of people giving draft picks a grade less than 24 hours after they’ve been made. Some of them are spot on after the players have shown who they are after a few years in the league, and some of them look pretty bad. A lot of graders get stuck on their personal rankings, and will tank a player’s selection because of that. How a player fits with a team, and their needs plays a big part here as well.
Reviewing the Chiefs draft prospects we covered in 29 Days of Draftmas
As we wait for the draft to begin, let’s review the Chiefs prospects the AP Nerd Squad has highlighted this month.
Throughout April, we’ve brought you our annual
Edge rushers
Day 2
Basham’s versatility should really intrigue the Chiefs who love to kick a bigger base end inside on rushing downs. Basham affords them that flexibility and could add some much-needed juice to the pass rush rotation. There’s a clear path to success for Basham in the NFL pairing good effort and power to set a good edge on early downs and trying to disrupt next to Chris Jones inside.
Now, the Chiefs have used the NFL draft to make sure that doesn t happen again.
The two-time and defending AFC champs traded a package of picks, including the No. 31 overall selection, to the Ravens on Friday for two-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr.. He ll anchor a revamped offensive front that will include free-agent guard Joe Thuney, former All-Pro lineman Kyle Long and new center Austin Blythe.
So much for all those mock drafts that had Kansas City taking an offensive tackle in the first round.
The trade also sent third- and fourth-round selections to Baltimore while a second-rounder went back to Kansas City, and included a swap of the Chiefs fifth-round pick and the Ravens sixth-rounder in 2022. Brown must pass a physical so the trade becomes official sometime before Thursday night s first round.
