Not a single patient who didn t get ICU, oxygen: Assam CM hails state s fight against Covid-19
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday hailed state s fight against Covid-19 and said there is not a single patient who didn t get an ICU bed or oxygen. Every hospital in the state has been equipped with beds, he said.

Akhil Gogoi arrives at the legislative assembly on Friday
GUWAHATI: Assam’s imprisoned peasants’ leader Akhil Gogoi, who created history when he became the first candidate in the state to win assembly election while in judicial custody, was the centre of attention as he, along with 124 other members, was sworn-in as a member of the newly elected 15th Assam legislative assembly on Friday.
Gogoi, who won from Sivasagar assembly constituency without even campaigning by defeating the BJP candidate, was out on a one-day bail to facilitate his swearing-in as an MLA. Soon after the day’s proceedings in the house, he was escorted under heavy security back to judicial custody in a cabin at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital where he is being housed on health grounds.

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government, responding to the Gauhati High Court (GHC) on a PIL 24/2020, said that that registration of persons between 18 and 44 years of age, for vaccination was not being done due to shortage of vaccines.
Appearing before the Bench of Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Achintya Malla Bujor Barua, the senior standing counsel, Government of Assam, D Saikia apprised the Court of the measures being taken by the Government to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
On the queries which were made earlier by the High Court, in its reply, D Saikia said, As regarding difficulties being faced by the villagers in getting themselves registered for vaccination through online, he would reply that apart from online registration, there are walk-in registration centres in the vaccination centres itself.
