Coolum surfer Julian Wilson s Pipe dream is over, after he was eliminated from the prestigious world tour event in Hawaii. The Sunshine Coast product, who also has a base in Merewether, New South Wales, was eliminated from the Pipe Masters. The 2021 championship tour restarted today at Oahu after it was suspended for several days due to COVID-19. Several World Surf Tour staff members, including CEO Erik Logan, tested positive at the weekend. Wilson, 32, managed to avoid sudden death elimination in round two due to newcomer Miguel Tudela pulling out with injury concerns. But that s where his luck ran out.

Sunshine Coast Council, emergency services and Sunshine Coast Surf Lifesaving have joined forces to launch a Sharing our Sunshine Coast campaign designed to encourage locals and visitors to be prepared and take care over the summer holiday period.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said indications pointed to the busiest holiday period the Sunshine Coast has experienced for some time and that people needed to continue to follow public health measures and plan for a happy and safe Christmas.
“Council is continuing to do all it can to support our community, just as we have throughout this turbulent year,” Mayor Jamieson said.

Mountains of sea foam have covered some of Australia s most idyllic beaches, but experts have warned the dirty bubbles could be hiding snakes and debris.
Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast and Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast were blanketed by thick murky foam churned up by rough seas and cyclonic winds on Monday.

Beachgoers were spotted making most of the rare conditions at Snapper Rocks that afternoon, splashing in the foam and bodysurfing the strange brown waves.
