Event organisers made the call to reschedule the event this morning after heavy overnight rainfall caused too much concern over the safety of competitors and animals alike.
“Thank you to everyone that puts so much effort into making these events happen. Even with the best COVID plans in place, too much rain over night has meant that we have had to postpone this event,” the organisers said through a statement on Facebook. “The rodeo may be postponed, but the party doesn’t have to stop! Make sure you pop into the Railway Hotel Imbil and grab a feed, a drink or two and catch our awesome entertainers Junction Road Music as they play a mix of new and classic groves to keep you in the mood for fun!”
Daughter Nikki Garrett said there d be plenty of cake and a special morning tea. She looks forward to visits and having a few laughs, she said. (We ll help her celebrate) With just love and laughter. It s the latter that Marjorie credits as the secret to a long and fruitful life. A good sense of humour and being able to laugh at everything and anybody, especially yourself (is important), she said. Ignore what everybody else has to say and be yourself. Thanks to COVID-19, the traditional New Yearâs Eve fireworks displays will not go ahead this year, but luckily there are plenty of other ways to bring in the new year.
From fun activities for the whole family, to dancing the night away at a bar, this list has something for everyone and every budget.
1. New Yearâs Eve Family Fun on the Foreshore
WHAT: Free family fun on the Tin Can Bay foreshore, with free activities for kids including an outdoor disco and sweet treats. There is also a âspecial treatâ to dazzle and delight sponsored by Tin Can Bay Mini Storage, YAP and the Tin Can Bay Chamber of Commerce.
There was better news at Rainbow Beach, Inskip and Fraser Island where the amount owed dropped from $306,000 last year to $222,000.
Kilkivan and Mudlo residents also ended the year better off; the areaâs SPER debt was down almost $40,000 and now sits at $141,000.
Goomeri, however, ended the year with $155,000 owing, $13,000 more than was owed last November. There are more than 27,000 outstanding fines owed by the regionâs residents.
The $8.8m debt was accumulated across 27,493 fines incurred by 3857 people.
The changes in amounts owed across the region do not necessarily mean debts were paid off as the figures are tied to postcodes and fluctuate as people move into and out of the region.
