In reference to the Federal Pharmacy Program, Gov. Ricketts said “this was a program that was ill-thought out by the Federal Government, they didn’t coordinate with the states.” For example, 43 Nebraska pharmacies had signed up to participate, but only 33 pharmacies are being allocated doses this week.
Ricketts is disappointed the Federal Government did not coordinate with Nebraska because their program has created two ways for people to sign up for the vaccine in the state.
“For example, there was a question earlier. What if I go to one pharmacy, and I want to get a vaccine someplace else. Well, if the federal government actually planned this out ahead of time and let us coordinate with the pharmacies and set up an automated way to share data, we would be able to say oh if you went to this pharmacy and now you’d like to go to your local health director you could do that because we’d have that re

CHARLESTON West Virginia will receive a higher allotment of vaccine through the Federal Pharmacy Program, according to the governor.
The state will receive 7,300 doses, higher than the 5,800 announced on Monday through the federal program with Walgreens for older residents and essential workers, Gov. Jim Justice said on Wednesday. A hundred doses of the vaccine will be distributed to each of 53 Walgreens in the state, he said.
West Virginia is receiving more dosages because of the success of its vaccination program, Justice said.
The state is going to beat the virus and will show the world how to do it, Justice said.
