Social Share The Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) will be writing Government seeking clarification over the erection of lane demarcations and signage in the Cheapside public service vehicle (PSV) terminal. On Thursday morning, workers from the Ministry of Transport and Works were erecting signs with lane numbers and route lists, located to the top of the Bridgetown terminal. Some PSV operators were not pleased with the move.

April 9, 2021 An official of the organisation representing private transit owners has called on Government to outline targeted and comprehensive guidelines in its next COVID-19 directives for keeping the island’s schoolchildren protected against the coronavirus upon the resumption of school in two weeks’ time. Director of Complaints at the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT), Craig Banfield, made this plea on Thursday after his organization received hand sanitizing stations from the Barbados Light and Power Company for Public Service Vehicles operating out of the Cheapside Terminal. With the new school term being slated to resume in a matter of weeks, he suggested any future COVID-19 directives from Government should have regulations stipulated for the management of children, since the majority of them have to take public transport to and from school.

Some members of the Vincentian Transportation Association withdrew their services Monday, threatening to do so “for as long as it takes” for the government there to reverse a decision to halve the number of passengers they are licensed to carry without any associated subsidy.

PSVs to get own legal aid - Barbados Today

Barbados Today February 27, 2021 Public service vehicle operators who have been seeking legal assistance could soon be getting access to volunteer attorneys as the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) Wednesday announced its intention to start a legal clinic for its members. AOPT Director Craig Banfield made the announcement as he and fellow AOPT members accepted gas coupons from Rubis Fontabelle. The gesture is intended to assist PSV operators who have been experiencing reduced income during the COVID-19 crisis. Banfield told journalists the clinic would be the result of calls from the AOPT’s membership for some form of legal aid.
