Hero Award presented to Julie Hoagland The Times-Reporter The Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools recently presented its Hero Award to Julie Hoagland, the Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools secretary for transportation, buildings/grounds and food services for Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools.  Hoagland was presented the award locally by Superintendent Mark Murphy with a small group of employees in attendance following a brief virtual CORAS meeting with remarks by state Superintendent Paulo DeMaria, Ohio University Dean of education Renee Middleton and CORAS Executive Director Richard Murray. The Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools, in partnership with the Ohio University College of Education, is an organization composed of 136 school districts, institutions of higher learning and other educational agencies in the 35-county region of Ohio designated as Appalachia.

Superintendent T.C. Chappelear surprised White with honors from the Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools, which touts school employees for going above and beyond the call of duty.
