While the Pixel 5 never saw the light of day in India, it was a successful hit for Google in the parts of the world where it got released. Now, rumours for the Pixel 6 have already started showing up, suggesting that the device might come with an under-display selfie camera.
A new patent that was first discovered by Patently Apple reveals a Pixel device that doesn t have a pop-up camera, punch-hole design, or any type of notch. The patent doesn t seem to mention anything about the absence of any of these but as none of them appear in the patent, neither on display nor on body, it is a good sign that the device will have an under-display front camera.
Google unveils MuRIL tech to boost Indian regional language internet ecosystem
MuRIL will work for more than a dozen Indian languages like Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri etcetera.

Earlier this year in July, Google had announced its $10 billion digitization fund for India in its Google for India 2020 event for the next five to seven years and one of the main focus areas of this fund was investing in the Indian language internet ecosystem to improve penetration of digital services and products. In accordance with this, Google India has unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI) powered model called Multilingual Representations for Indian Languages, short for, MuRIL to improve interoperability of web services in 16 Indian languages.
Google expands languages push to serve non-English speakers in India 18th Dec 2020 | Source: TechCrunch
There are over 600 million internet users in India, but only a fraction of this population is fluent in English. Most online services and much of the content on the web currently, however, are available exclusively in English.
This language barrier continues to contribute to a digital divide in the world’s second largest internet market that has limited hundreds of millions of users’ rendition of the world wide web to a select few websites and services.
So it comes as no surprise that American tech giants, which are counting on emerging markets such as India to continue their growth. are increasingly attempting to make the web and their services accessible to more people.
