PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday ordered the suspension of cattle export to Afghanistan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and directed the deputy commissioners of the relevant districts to check cattle smuggling.
A bench consisting of Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Ijaz Anwar observed that as Eidul Azha would be celebrated next month, drastic steps were needed to stop cattle smuggling and export to prevent the shortage of sacrificial animals in the province.
Action launched against China salt provider

NOWSHERA: Various government departments have launched a joint action against the manufacturers of the China salt by seizing the product.
Food Inspectors Waheedullah Yaseen and Mussawar Khan took the action at Janjalpura locality in Hakeemabad area of the Nowshera Cantt under the directives of Food Secretary Khushal Khan, Food Director Muhammad Zubair Khan and Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgan.
A huge amount of China salt was confiscated from the godown. The Food Department filed a complaint with the relevant police station for the registration of a case against the accused.
District Food Controller Sher Fayyaz said the sale, purchase and the use of China salt had already been banned due to its harmful effects.
The court directed the DC, advocate general Shumail Ahmad Butt and food secretary Khushal Khan to produce a report after Eid days about steps taken to stabilise prices of essential commodities. APP/File
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday directed the provincial government and Peshawar’s district administration to ensure strict clampdown on profiteering, hoarding and adulteration in the run-up to the Eidul Fitr festival.
A bench consisting of Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Lal Jan Khattak was informed by deputy commissioner of Peshawar retired Captain Khalid Mehmood that as directed by the court, the administration had carried out 6,091 inspections and registered 349 FIRs over profiteering and adulteration.
