Uzbek envoy stresses enhanced trade ties with Pakistan through regional connectivity

PESHAWAR: Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Aybek Arif Usmanov has stressed the need for enhanced trade relations between the two countries through regional connectivity.
“The trade of different items between the two countries could be increased manifold,” he said while speaking at a function arranged here on Monday to mark the 580th anniversary of Ali Sher Novai, the great Uzbek thinker and philosopher.
The event held at the Area Study Centre, University of Peshawar, was also addressed by pro-vice-chancellor of the university Prof Dr Mohammad Abid, director of the centre Dr Shabir Ahmad and others.
Mushtaq Majrooh Yousafzai
PESHAWAR: Nine people, including noted Pashto poet Mushtaq Majrooh Yousafzai, died of novel coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
Majrooh’s death left behind a widow, three sons and two daughters.
The 65-year-old, who passed away at the Hayatabad Medical Complex, was laid to rest in ancestral graveyard of Mayar village, Mardan, in the presence of poets, writers, elders and fans.
A health department report said the province’s tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 66,456 with 253 more people being infected with virus in the last 24 hours.
It added that the provincial city recorded 155 new cases.
According to the report, the Covid-19 deaths in the province have totalled 1,889 with 956 being reported in Peshawar, highest by any district. Six more residents lost life to coronavirus in 24 hours, report said.

Charsadda, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is famous for its hand-woven, coarse, cotton fabric known as khaddar or khadi, which is a popular cloth across the country. As the freezing winters come knocking on the doors, khaddar arrives in the city’s markets and business is often brisk.
Ihsan Ullah, 35, has been selling khadi for the last eight years. “I have a website and I receive khadi fabric orders online from different cities,” he says as he rolls away yards of fabric at his shop in Charsadda market. “My business is expanding and we sell a variety of khadi fabric,” he adds.

KARACHI: Rangoonwala Cricket Club retained the title of Corporate Twenty20 League Cricket Tournament after recording a six-wicket win against Karachi Strikers in the final here at the Quaid-e-Azam Park Cricket Stadium in Pakistan Steel Town.
Karachi Strikers batted first and scored a modest total of 121 runs in 20 overs. Captain Mubashir Khan was the top scorer with 27 off 38 balls. Rangoonwala skipper Ejaz Ahmed picked four wickets for 17 runs.
Rangoonwala CC achieved the target with 19 balls to spare and six wickets in hand. Khushal Khan Khattak struck five boundaries in his 41 off 28 deliveries.
