He said the police were called and they rescued the baby.
“It was a neighbour who went to ease himself that heard the cry of the baby and ran back home to raise an alarm before the police were invited to rescue the baby,” he said.
He said the baby was later taken to Wisdom Clinic in Kwali, where the chairman of the council, Danladi Chiya, who got wind of the incident, directed that it be treated.
The area council chairman confirmed the incident through telephone call to our reporter, saying he had directed the social welfare department of the council to liaise with the police to ensure the perpetrator was brought to book.

OPERATIVES of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested 50 suspected members of various notorious criminal gangs and networks across the country.
The arrests, which were carried out by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team and the Special Tactical Squad of the Force attached to the Operation Puff Adder II, recovered from the suspects 10 firearms, 2,496 AK47 live ammunition, 10 live cartridges, cartons of Tramadol worth over N3m, substance suspected to be Indian hemp, two laptop computers and eight mobile phones.
A statement on Tuesday by the Force Spokesman, Frank Mba, said one Danjuma Dachung, a 30-year-old native of Ryom, Plateau State and Markus Danladi, were intercepted in Kachia, Kaduna State, conveying 1,565 pieces of AK-47 ammunition in a Volkswagen Golf 3 car.
Parading the suspects at the defunct headquarters of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, lamented the free flow of weapons and illicit drugs into the country.
He stressed that the operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), Special Tactical Squad (STS) and the Inspector-General of Police’ Intelligence Response Team, (IGP-IRT), under the Commanders of the duo of CP Abba Kyari and DCP Kolo Yusuf respectively would not relent in checking the illegalities.
Mba disclosed that a total of 10 sophisticated prohibited firearms, 2,496 AK47 live ammunition, 10 live cartridges, Cartons of Tramadol drugs worth over 3 million naira, bags of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, two laptop computers, eight mobile phones and one Golf car used for ferrying ammunition to bandits in Kastina State amongst others, were recovered from the suspects during the operations.
