After 36 years in the government, Anita Sukola, a judge in the Superior Court of Guam, will retire March 26. It has been an honor and pleasure for me to have served the people of Guam, Sukola wrote in a Jan. 28 letter to Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero.
In the letter, Sukola wrote she has worked as a teacher in the public school system, director of the Department of Education, assistant professor at the University of Guam and an attorney with the Public Defender Service Corp. I want to take this opportunity to thank you and the people of Guam for the many opportunities that I experienced, Sukola wrote.
Gogo has served Guam and Santa Clara, California, for 23 years through his legal job. He spent six years in the Santa Clara County District Attorney s office, serving in the community outreach office, the letter stated. He worked with local law enforcement to hold gun buyback events, which removed 4,000 firearms from Santa Clara County, Leon Guerrero wrote.
In 2019, Gogo was appointed to the California bench by Gov. Gavin Newsom. Before the appointment, Gogo served as the Deputy District Attorney in Santa Clara, California, for 20 years.
Gogo is a member of the Guam Bar Association, the letter stated, and has worked as an associate attorney at the Calvo & Clark law firm.
