A 250-kilogram bomb discovered by a fisherman in central Vietnam’s Quang Tri Province was salvaged from the local Thach Han River by military officers on Tuesday.
In an attempt that took over three hours, the unexploded bomb disposal unit under the Quang Tri Military High Command, in cooperation with experts from the local Golden West Humanitarian Foundation, a U.S.-based nonprofit working on removal of unexploded ordnance (UXO), managed to pull the bomb out of the Thach Han river section in Quang Tri Town.

Two fishermen have gone missing after their fishing boat was hit and sunk by a ship off the north-central Vietnamese province of Quang Tri on Sunday.
The fishing boat, whose captain was 36-year-old Ho Luong Thanh from north-central Quang Binh Province, encountered the accident at around 4:00 am.
Thanh and his four crew members fell into the ocean following the collision.
Three of them, including Thanh, drifted for about three nautical miles before being rescued by a nearby fishing boat.
The other two fishermen, namely Ho Van Thuy, 61, and Nguyen Khanh Huy, 32, remain nowhere to be found.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health reported a record daily spike of 92 local coronavirus infections on Sunday, including 15 in the morning and 77 in the evening.
Thirty-one of the cases were registered in Bac Giang Province, 15 in Bac Ninh Province, 17 in Hanoi, two in Hoa Binh Province, two in Hung Yen Province, 17 in Da Nang, two in Thua Thien-Hue Province, one in Quang Nam Province, one in Quang Tri Province, two in Lang Son Province, one in Ha Nam Province, and one in Da Lak Province.
