Johnson Institute Names 2021 Exemplary Leader Awardees

Wednesday, March 10, 2021 Share Two women who have made their mark on the Pittsburgh community by working to address neighbors’ basic needs in sustainable ways are being honored with the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership’s 2021 Exemplary Leader Award. The University of Pittsburgh’s Johnson Institute, part of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, recognizes individuals who are committed to the highest standards of professional leadership, integrity, accountability and stewardship through its Exemplary Leader Awards. Gisele Barreto Fetterman and Leah Lizarondo will be recognized in a virtual event at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26. Registration is free and open to the public. The event will include a Q&A session with the audience.

Toronto-based Bachelor contestant Serena Pitt quickly became a fan favourite on the current season of the reality show thanks to her down-to-earth demeanor and refusal to engage in petty drama, and the Ontarian was equally praised for her decision to leave the show on her own terms during a recent episode.  Pitt, a 22-year-old recent graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University who currently works at MacIntyre Communications, sent herself home during the hometowns episode of the series after realizing bachelor Matt James just wasn t the one. 

Litigation over Monroeville plaintiff being trapped in elevators due to faulty sensor is settled

Chiurazzi | Chiurazzi Law Group PITTSBURGH – Litigation between a Western Pennsylvania woman and a pair of elevator manufacturers, over the plaintiff’s being trapped inside a pair of elevator doors due to a faulty sensor, has been settled. Katherine L. Gardone of Monroeville first filed suit in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Aug. 7 versus Schindler Elevator Corporation of Morristown, N.J. and Walnut Ivanhoe Partners, LP, also of Monroeville. “Upon information and belief, defendant Walnut owned, maintained and controlled real property located at 4175 Ivanhoe Drive, Monroeville, PA 15146. Schindler owned, maintained and controlled the elevator located there and built, installed, and maintained that same elevator,” according to the lawsuit.
