JOHANNESBURG - The bank accounts of a senior Eskom manager had been frozen due to millions of rands in alleged kickbacks.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) said it had launched civil proceedings against Coal Operations senior manager, Petrus Mazibuko.
This was the latest effort to recover money taken from the power utility or obtained illegally.
The SIU said a whistle-blower alerted them to R11 million worth of alleged kickbacks.

Former Eskom contractor Michael Harry Lomas has been arrested in the UK, where he is a citizen.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Investigative Directorate (ID), Sindisiwe Seboka, said Lomas was arrested in London on April 15 and appeared before the Westminster magistrate’s court on Thursday.
“He was granted bail of £100,000 (about R1.9m) and further submitted additional surety in the sum of £250,000 (about R4.9m). The appearance means Lomas’s extradition to SA has begun in earnest in the UK,” Seboka said.

A restraint order on assets amounting to R1.4 billion belonging to former Eskom executives and Tubular Construction Projects contractors was executed in various provinces on Tuesday morning.
The Citizen reports according to Sindisiwe Seboka, spokesperson for the National Prosecution Authorityâs Investigating Directorate (ID), the order was awarded by the Gauteng North High Court in terms of the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act.

Former Eskom group executive for Group Capital, Abram Masango,
Former Tubular Construction Projects CEO, Antonio Trindade,

The order was enforced on all the accused in Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Limpopo earlier on Tuesday.
Former Eskom s senior manager France Hlakudi, the utility s former group executive Abram Masango are among those served with the order, including other individuals from Tubular Construction Projects.
