MANATEE COUNTY, FL A Manatee County teenager who aged out of foster care had a lot to celebrate Tuesday as she was formally adopted by her former case worker.

The Idaho Conservation League (ICL) has announced two hires to its team.

Aly Bean
Aly Bean joined ICL as its climate campaign coordinator. In this role, she develops, implements and leads ICL’s efforts on combating climate change. She holds a Ph.D. in geography and her research focused on strategies for managing water rights for agriculture in the face of climate change in the western U.S. She most recently worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service and collaborated with the University of Idaho. Her professional experience also includes research for NASA on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies, as well as managing and coordinating volunteers and members for the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute. She also served as environmental board chair for the State of Idaho League of Women Voters and volunteered with AmeriCorps.

PEL s donation to the coalition s Schoolhouse Link program will support homeless students and youths who are on their own, without a stable place to stay in Sarasota County.
This donation will help provide stability to vulnerable youths/young adults with short-term housing subsidies while they pursue their education. It will promote family and youth wellness by providing funding for uncovered medical care, emergency medication and supportive counseling.
The donation also will assist homeless students with scholarships for ancillary expenses, such as application fees, books, uniforms and computers, as they transition from high school to college or technical training opportunities.
