This week Alt-rock and psychedelia band Maybird takes The Little stage, Saturday, February 26 at 11:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV. The band is excited to perform for WXXI s HomeStage with special appearances by Mikaela Davis and Cian McCarthy. Fusing expansive psychedelia with evocative roots rock accents, Maybird are originally from Rochester, New York. The group consists of singer/songwriter Josh Netsky, drummer Adam Netsky and guitarist Sam Snyder. In 2013, they released an ambitious independent debut record, Down & Under, which caught the ear of producer Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley, Broken Bells), who signed them to his label 30th Century Records. WKNC 88.1 FM Post author Sunshine, good vibes, and relaxation are what The Babe Rainbow delivers. The Australian neo-psychedelic group is one of my personal favorites. They’re one of those rare bands that never seems to have a “dud” song; You can listen straight through every album and enjoy each track. Drummer/lead singer Angus Dowling and guitarist Jack Crowther originally met when they were in high school in Byron Bay, a place known for it’s organic, back-to-nature culture. Influenced by ’60s surf rock and the counter-culture movement, The Babe Rainbow creates music that feels like walking through a magic garden at sunset.
