KP govt urged to retain budget for girls education

PESHAWAR: The girls education activists on Thursday asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to retain the 70pc of the budget for girls education in the province for the 3rd consecutive year.
They made the demand while speaking at a press conference which was organized by Blue Veins, a civil society organization working for promoting the girls education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The speakers, including Qamar Naseem, Sana Ahmad and Tehreem Aftab, stressed that the upcoming budget of KP and the utilization of the existing budget must prioritize efforts which enabled all girls to complete secondary education and develop the knowledge and skills they needed for life and work.
SSDO elected to hold Child Rights Moment Secretariat next year

Islamabad : The Sustainable Social Development Organisation (SSDO) is elected unopposed by all member child rights organisations to hold the Child Rights Movement (CRM) Secretariat for 2021.
The CRM is a network of all the NGOs working on the children s rights and their protection said its Executive Director Syed Kausar Abbas while commenting over the victory.
He said the organisation would work in collaboration with all the departments concerned
for the protection of child rights in the country, adding all-out efforts would be made in that regard.
The SSDO ED called upon all the governmental and non-governmental organisations including parliamentarians for playing an active role for the purpose.

PESHAWAR: Speakers at a seminar here on Monday called for including gender analysis in arms control policies, laws and programming in the context of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They were addressing a provincial level seminar on “Gender Mainstreaming in Small Arms Control”. A non-governmental organization, Blue Veins, had arranged the event to mark the International Human Rights Day. The day is observed on December 10 under different themes.
The civil society organisations (CSOs), national human rights institutions, academia, women rights groups, transgender persons and government officials attended the function.
The speakers called upon provincial and federal governments to integrate gender perspective into the small arms issue understanding the different ways that men, women, boys, girls and non-binary gender persons engage in, are affected by and respond to gun violence.
