Worried by cases of maternal mortality recorded in the country, the Executive Director, Resource Centre For Human Rights and Civic Education, CHRICED, Ibrahim Zikirullahi has on Monday decried what he described as gross underfunding of maternal healthcare in Kano State.
This was as he said seventy per cent of maternal funds meant to address maternal, newborn and child healthcare were diverted and used to pay salaries and other running and operational costs.
Zikirullahi stated this while unveiling findings of a three years baseline study carried out by the organization tagged “Assessing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Government Spending on Maternal, Newborn and Child Healthcare in Kano State.”

Autopsy results for late Consular Service Deputy Director expected within a month
AKIPRESS.COM - The results of autopsy of late Deputy Director of Consular Service Department Bakhtiyar Shakirov will be ready within a month, the National Forensic Examination Center said.
Bakhtiyar Shakirov died in the night of April 1.
The body of Bakhtiyar Shakirov was brought to the morgue from the National Maternal and Child Health Care Center. We do not have information if Shakirov got coronavirus vaccine. The results will be delivered in a month, the National Forensic Examination Center said.
A commission was set up in the Ministry of Health and Social Development earlier, which investigates the cause of death of Bakhtiyar Shakirov in the National Maternal and Child Health Care Center.
