Despite its best efforts, Dubai is a destination some people love to hate.
Throughout January, the DHA (Dubai Health Authority) inoculated around a third of the population, administering more than three million vaccines free of charge. I was among the expat residents receiving Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinopharm vaccines in pop-up medical tents and repurposed halls. The experience was a bit like the party game, musical chairs. Several rows of seats, spaced two metres apart, lined the centre of the tent. As those at the head of each row were ushered to nurses waiting with needles around the perimeter, we all moved up a seat in anticipation of our turn.

UAE Covid vaccine: Hotel in Dubai offers 25% discount to vaccinated residents

A Dubai- based desert resort is now offering a flat 25 per cent discount to all residents who have successfully vaccinated against Covid-19.
This move comes just as the nationwide Covid-19 vaccine programme is being rolled out across different emirates, with some restaurants and ride sharing apps offering reductions to those who have had their jabs.
“We would like to show our support to the government of UAE, particularly – Dubai Health Authority who is working tirelessly to get all UAE residents vaccinated and safe. We hope this move will incentivise people who are making the decision to get vaccinated and show our support for those who have taken the jab.” said Ziad Sleiman, hotel manager of Bab Al Shams Desert Resort.
