ISLAMABAD: A bill to bring the 26th Amendment to the Constitution, to pave the way for open balloting in Senate elections, was presented on Wednesday amid a noisy National Assembly session.
Minister for Law and Justice Senator Farogh Naseem tabled the bill on floor of the National Assembly. However, it requires two-third majority in the House for a constitutional amendment to see day of the light.
The government could not make progress on the constitutional amendment but it defeated three attempts of the opposition benches to get proceedings of the House adjourned due to lack of quorum.
NA Speaker directs to open Pak-Afghan Border six-day a week

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, in his ruling, has directed to keep Pak-Afghan Border open six days a week for commuters.
The Chair made this ruling while speaking on a Calling Attention Notice moved by Gul Dad Khan and Dr. Haider Ali Khan regarding hampering of economic as well as social activities due to closure of Pak-Afghan border.
Responding to the Calling Attention, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid informed the House that over four hundred thousand people monthly crossed the Pak-Afghan border by road. He said the government will abide by Speaker’s ruling.

TAKHTBHAI: Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) president and provincial general secretary of the Tanzim-e-Tajiraan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zahir Shah, has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to create a business-friendly environment for the traders and businessmen in the province.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of office of the Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiraan, Takhtbhai, and later talking to media, the traders’ leader said that over a decade-long terrorism, militancy and now the Covid-19 pandemic had destroyed businesses and crippled the businessmen.
Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiraan president Muhammad Tariq Khan, Guldad Khan, Qazi Muhammad Javed, Bkhtiar Khan, Khalid Khan, Sher Mama and others were also present on the occasion. He said that most of the traders and businessmen even lost their capital due to the years-long terrorism, flawed policies of successive governments and now the coronavirus outbreak.

Differences emerge in Bajaur PTI

KHAR: Serious differences emerged in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Bajaur chapter, on Saturday after the party lawmakers and a provincial minister inaugurated the work on two electricity feeders in the district.
The party had made inauguration plaques inscribed with the names of provincial Minister Anwarzeb Khan, members National Assembly Gul Zafar Khan and Guldad Khan and Member Provincial Assembly Engr Ajmal Khan.
It was earlier planned that the PTI lawmakers and the provincial minister would jointly inaugurate the Civil Colony and hospital feeders in Khar.
However, it did not happen due to their internal differences best known to them.
