SRINAGAR: Apni Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari today said that political parties in Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration have been finding ways to get rid of each other following District Development Council elections in J&K.

A day after the killing of three boys in the Lawaypora HMT area on the outskirts of Srinagar in what the army described as an “encounter”, the family members have written to the government seeking the bodies of their children.
Ajaz Maqbool, 20, son of Muhamad Maqbool Ganai, a head constable in Jammu and Kashmir police from Pulwama, along with Ather Mushtaq Wani, 16, of Pulwama and Zubair Ahmad Lone, 22, of Shopian were killed in an “encounter” with the Army on Wednesday at the Lawaypora HMT. However, the family members described the “encounter” as fake and staged.

SRINAGAR, Dec 22: Peoples Democratic Party Youth President Waheed Parra on Tuesday won the Pulwama-1 seat in Jammu and Kashmir’s District Development Council elections. Parra, who is currently in jail in connection with a terror case, won his debut election “by a huge margin of votes”.
Parra secured 1,323 votes, while his nearest rival, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sajad Raina got 321. The constituency has 14 villages and over 25,000 voters, but only 1,950 votes were cast. Apart from Parra and Raina, there were five more candidates – Apni Party’s Ghulam Hassan Mir and four independents – in the fray.

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party leader Waheed Para, who was taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) days after filing his nomination for the first ever District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir, has emerged victorious from Tahab in south Kashmir’s Pulwama area.
PDP president and former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti took to Twitter to congratulate Para, the party’s youth wing president who is currently lodged in Tihar jail.
