At approximately 10:15 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to 812 Avenue G on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and found a person lying in the hallway of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests that a domestic-related argument took place inside of the residence prior to the victim being shot. A person of interest remained on the scene and was taken into custody for questioning.

According to those reports, Maricopa had 1.7 violent crimes per 1,000 residents, down from 1.9 violent crimes in 2020. The city had 11.9 property crimes per 1,000 residents, up from 10 property crimes in 2020.
A second Pinal County city, Florence, held onto to its No. 1 ranking for the second straight year. The county seat, Florence had 1.7 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 2.8 property crimes per 1,000 residents. Florence is the only city to report fewer than 100 total property crimes.
Key Findings
Texas and California cities rank well. Four of the top 11 cities in this study are located in the Lone Star State – Frisco, McKinney, Plano and McAllen. And another four in the top 11 are in the Golden State – Sunnyvale, Santa Clarita, Glendale and San Jose.
Almost one in five adults engage in excessive drinking. Across the 200 cities in our study, an average of 19.17% of the population drinks excessively. Madison, Wisconsin has the highest percentage of excessive drinkers, at 28.22%. And Macon, Georgia has the lowest percentage of over-drinkers, at 13.02%.

The victim has been identified as Louis Bryant, (44), b/m, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Just before 4:30 a.m., Birmingham Police Officers responded to a call of a person shot at 1516 Vanderbilt Road. Officers arrived and was alerted of a person inside the residence who sustained a gunshot wound. Officers observed the male laying on the floor unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures; however, the victim succumb to his injuries.
The investigation indicates a domestic related altercation occurred prior to Bryant being shot. The suspect was taken into custody pending further investigation. Updates will be provided as this case develops.
