Newark police offer $5K for information on shooting of 2-year-old

The Newark Police Division’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of anyone responsible for the shooting of a 2-year-old girl last week.
The child was one of three victims who were found shot on Jan. 28 around 11:09 p.m. on Cabinet Street in Newark. A man and a woman were also shot and rushed to University Hospital with the 2-year-old, police said.
“Our Major Crimes detectives are actively searching for any suspects involved in this senseless shooting, which could have cost this child her life in a split second,” said Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.
Yesterday at approximately 1:47 p.m., the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call that an individual had been shot at 200 Lakewood Park Drive in Martinsville.
When deputies arrived on scene at approximately 1:52 p.m., they found Jeremiah Jerron Turner, 20, of 200 Lakewood Park Drive, Martinsville, deceased inside the residence.
It appeared Turner suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia, where an autopsy will be performed.Â
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Taylor Paige Thomas, 23, of Axton, came to the home and knocked on the door, the resident allowed Thomas to enter the home.
Woman shot at Turlock motel; suspect under arrest
A Turlock man has been jailed on allegations he shot a woman at a Turlock motel on New Year’s Day.
The shooting was reported to the Turlock Police Department at 1:23 a.m. Jan. 1 at the Venice Motel at 1114 N. Golden State Blvd.
“Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim in a motel room who was suffering from a gunshot wound,” said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Michael Parmley. “The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.”
The shooter had already fled, but the scene was secured and a search warrant was served to gather evidence, Parmley said.

Two arrested for May murder in Turlock
The Turlock Police Department has arrested two men suspected of fatally shooting an 18-year-old near a Turlock park in May.
Robert Omar Branche, 22, and Jose Carmona, 30, both of Modesto have been taken into custody and charged with the murder of Izrael Villegas, 18, of Turlock.
Around 1 a.m. May 20, 2020, the police department dispatched officers to the 4300 block of Cherry Blossom Lane after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.
The first officers arrived at the scene and found Villegas near Dale Pinkney Park with a fatal gunshot wound.
Detectives investigating the case suspect the homicide was drug-related, said Turlock Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Michael Parmley.
