JACKSON ⢠Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested former Booneville police officer Dustin Rambo Friday on five color of law violations.
Rambo is charged with one felony count of deprivation of rights under color of law â privacy/bodily injury, and four misdemeanor counts of deprivation of rights under color of law â unreasonable search and seizure/taking of property without due process.
According to the criminal complaint unsealed Friday, Rambo allegedly sexually assaulted a woman who believed she was in custody of law enforcement. Following the alleged sexual assault, she was released without being charged. On four separate occasions, he allegedly took personal possession of cash, a debit card, prescription narcotics and other personal items.
SALTILLO ⢠The Saltillo community commended its police department with a short reception Thursday to recognize its efforts during the recent ice storm.
Police Chief Grant Bailey took to social media and the radio in mid-February to give citizens daily updates about road conditions and reminding people to stay off the roads if at all possible.
Tanya Mayo, who works with Lee County 911, saw firsthand the impact of the departmentâs efforts and organized a reception to thank officers.
âDuring the week of the ice storm, the entire police department went above and beyond what they had to do,â Mayo said. âThey were out there driving the roads to keep us safe, while giving daily updates on the conditions. The fact that there were no wrecks that week is absolutely amazing. Saltillo Police, you are our heroes.â
TUPELO • A Baldwyn man accused of stabbing a man to death in February will await his court date in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
IUKA ⢠An Alabama man is facing felony charges after fleeing in a possibly stolen car and ramming the pursuing officers.
On March 4, the Tishomingo County Sheriff s Office received word that Tuscumbia, Alabama, police were trying to stop a possibly stolen vehicle. The suspect refused to stop and entered Mississippi on Highway 72. While fleeing officers, the car turned into Tishomingo County High School before coming back onto the four-lane highway.
When law enforcement tried to box in the suspect to end the pursuit, he rammed patrol vehicle from both states. When the vehicle finally became disabled, officers took the suspect into custody and closed down a lane of the highway while conducting the initial investigation.
