LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) The La Crosse School District will begin phasing in other, more equitable, resources regarding student conduct while also reducing the use of school resource officers under a report the school board accepted Monday night.
Two board members acknowledged that the report, aimed in part at correcting real and perceived negative treatment of black, brown and other minority groups, sparked anger for them and some community members because it won’t change approaches fast enough. But they also recognized that revamping the system needs a deliberate approach to fix longtime habits.
