Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, has sacked four commissioners from his cabinet.
Mr Christian Ita, who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, announced this in a statement on Monday in Calabar, the state capital.
The affected commissioners are Mike Usibe (New City Development), Rita Ayim (Women Affairs), Asu Okang (Information), and Ntufam Etim (Climate Change).
Governor Ayade also relieved five other appointees – who include Leo Inyambe, Orok Duke, Victor Okon, John Bassey, and Mbeh Agbiji – of their appointments.
While no reason was given for the Governor’s action, he thanked the affected commissioners and appointees for their services to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.

The Director General of Conference of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups, Obidike Chukwuebuka, yesterday said the defection of Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade to the ruling party has shown that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government has done well in the South-South geo-political zone.
Obidike, who spoke in Victoria Island, Lagos, while congratulating the governor, noted that the defection has punctured the claims by the opposition parties that the present government at the centre has failed.
The APC chieftain maintained that Buhari had unified the nation through balanced developments and inclusive governance.

A declaration by governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress suggesting that the party may jettison zoning in 2023, is causing disquiet within the party.
The Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Abubakar Bagudu, while welcoming the Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade into the party last week had said, “APC belongs to all Nigerians. Everyone, from every part of the country is free to aspire for any position in the party in line with provisions of our party’s constitution and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.”
Some party supporters have interpreted this statement to mean an attempt to renege on a gentleman’s agreement among leaders that the Presidency should go to the South in 2023.
