Bankes and Visintin shine under Bakuriani sun

On the second competition day in Bakuriani, Georgia, the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup show reached another level. Not only was it a bluebird sky and super sunny day, but each and every single one of the heats was really one to watch. The athletes showed what they still had left in their tanks after a couple of pretty intense days here in Bakuriani and we witnessed some really tight racing.
World Champion Charlotte Bankes wins after tactical choices
The four women left for the final heat of the day were brand new World Champion Charlotte Bankes (GBR), Sierra Nevada 2017 silver medallist Chloe Trespeuch (FRA), Saturday’s fourth placed Michela Moioli (ITA) and USA’s Faye Gulini.

What a wonderful day to have hosted a FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup for the very first time. Bluebird sky, sunshine all the way and perfect conditions welcomed snowboard cross athletes on Thursday morning in Reiteralm, Austria, for a day of exciting snowboard cross action.
The big final of women saw double silver medallist Michela Moioli (ITA), team mate Raffaella Brutto, winningest SBX athlete Lindsey Jacobellis (USA) and France’s Chloe Trespeuch in the start gate.

The Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup premiere in Austria’s Reiteralm could not have gone better from the perspective of the host nation Austria on the men’s side. And in the women’s field it is absolutely clear that Fanny Smith (SUI), currently in the World Cup lead, has one of her strongest competitors back with Sandra Naeslund returning to the World Cup.

After two highly successful World Championship competitions – one individual and one mixed team event – the SBX circuit is now getting ready for the next World Cup race in Austria’s Cross park in Reiteralm.
The Cross park has been developed over the past years especially as a permanent training opportunity for ski and snowboard cross athletes, but also with the idea in mind to host FIS, Europa and ultimately World Cup races. The Cross park offers a variety of lines with different levels of difficulty in regards to the elements and therefore has been established as a popular training opportunity for all levels of athletes, as well as a great venue for competitions.
