After the FDA and CDC issued a joint statement related to Johnson & Johnson, the Laurel County Health Department announced they are pausing J&J vaccinations until further notice. Director Mark Hensley said they will await further recommendations after the ACIP investigation. CDC and FDA are reviewing data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the J&J vaccine.

After its anniversary on March 18, the Randolph County Senior Adult Association served over 100,000 meals, 4,000 more meals ever served between its four locations in Asheboro, Archdale, Liberty, Randleman, and outer areas such as Trinity.
The non-profit organization started in 1975, improving the quality of life and serving as advocates for residents 50 and older.
According to Executive Director Mark Hensley, the senior center for local homes covered and delivered meals, provided transportation through Regional Coordinated Area Transportation Systems, provided health screenings.

Vaccines are now available for all adults but only 20% of Laurel County’s population has been vaccinated. Even though anyone 18+ is currently eligible for the vaccine, most of the vaccines are administered to those over the age of 50. Laurel County has the one dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Health officials in Laurel County are encouraging people to get the COVID-19 vaccine. They say they believe more younger people need to be vaccinated. Of the 10,000 in Laurel County who got the shot, more than half are 60 and over. Mark Hensley, Director at the Laurel County Health Department, says that is something we are working very hard to change. He said we know for the health and safety of our community, it’s the single most important thing you can do. Hensley says unlike a few months ago when supplies were slim, supplies are way up now. He said they are offering same day scheduling. Hensley said t
