Kentucky s Horsey among 3 Comeback Player of Year winners

Kentucky s Horsey among 3 Comeback Player of Year winners By Associated Press Lexington SHARE Kentucky offensive lineman Kenneth Horsey is one of three winners announced Saturday of the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Award, along with Colorado running back Jarek Broussard and Coastal Carolina linebacker Silas Kelly. Horsey overcame a heart condition that required surgery and threatened his career to become a starter on Kentucky s offensive line. The winners were chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), a panel of Associated Press football writers and the Fiesta Bowl Organization. “I could imagine this because football was one of the things that kept me motivated,” Horsey, a third-year sophomore, told AP.

NC State seething in underdog role vs Kentucky in Gator Bowl

NC State seething in underdog role vs Kentucky in Gator Bowl By MARK LONGJanuary 1, 2021 GMT JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) It’s one of the oddest betting lines of the bowl season. No. 24 North Carolina State (8-3) is a 2 ½-point underdog against Kentucky (4-6) in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, a number the Wolfpack consider a slight heading into Saturday’s game in Jacksonville. NC State has won four in a row, the longest streak in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It has eked out low-scoring games, won a couple shootouts and finished with more league victories than ever before. The Wildcats, meanwhile, have the second-worst offense in the Power Five, lost to Southeastern Conference finalists Alabama and Florida by a combined score of 97-13 and have two wins in the past 11 weeks against winless Vanderbilt and against a South Carolina team that played without its head coach and several key starters. Kentucky was so bad offensively that coach Mark Stoops fired two assistants less than 2

DCC: Steve Clinkscale

The Kentucky DB Coach has come up on the board a bunch, so I decided to take a closer look. Seems like he checks everyone s favorite boxes. Profile Clinkscale is young (43) but has experience as a full-time DC with Cincinnati in 2015. He grew up in Youngstown and coached at Ashland HS, giving him those Ohio connections many covet. Meanwhile he s also been going to work in Michigan, having pulled Justin Rogers and Marquan McCall from Oak Park. That helped him come in at 31 in the 2020 recruiter rankings at 24/7 (Don Brown at 41!), although I don t see his name in the top 75 for 2019 or 2021. At a glance it appears tough to make the list at a school like Kentucky.
