While most Ellis County folks know Bill Ham was born in Waxahachie and was the producer and manager for Rock group ZZ Top; most don’t know that Bill first gained notoriety by discovering and managing Clint Black. In the 1990’s his publishing company produced numerous top 10 country music songs.
AUBURN â Local police agencies arrested 17 people from Jan. 19-25, according to DeKalb County Jail records.
Michael McMahon, 62, of the 700 block of North Main Street, Auburn, was arrested Jan. 18 at 6:48 p.m. by the Auburn Police Department on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated as a Class A and Class C misdemeanor.
Donald Johnston, 35, of the 2000 block of U.S. 6, Waterloo, was arrested Jan. 18 at 6:48 p.m. by the DeKalb County Sheriffâs Office on a DeKalb County warrant alleging failure to appear in court on a body attachment.
Diane Sumner, 64, of the 1000 block of Ontario Lane, Auburn, was arrested Jan. 18 at 10:15 p.m. by the DeKalb County Sheriffâs Office on a DeKalb County warrant alleging failure to appear in court on a charge of driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor.

Those words, from former Massachusetts Sen. Rufus Choate, are inscribed on the wall of the U.S. Capitol the same walls desecrated by rioters who ransacked the building on Wednesday. For many Americans, seeing such acts of violence and vandalism occurring in the Capitol building was something unimaginable.
In fact, our civic “temple” has a surprisingly bloody history. It was still under construction when British troops seized it during the War of 1812. The Brits torched the structure, also destroying the U.S. Supreme Court and the Library of Congress, which were both housed there. Only a violent thunderstorm’s arrival put out the flames, thus sparing the original walls, which are incorporated in today’s building.

There have been a lot of changes when it comes to coaching APSU football over the past calendar year.
Scotty Walden, who was announced as the Governors new head coach in October, is the third man set to lead the APSU program in the previous two years.
Walden has brought in a haul of former colleagues to his first FCS coaching staff. The coach added eight new assistant coaches to help guide the Govs through their spring slate of games, five of which previously coaching alongside or playing for the 31-year-old.
