The redevelopment of a vacant former elementary school located in the city’s north end got the green light from members of Cornwall’s Planning Hearing and Advisory Committee on Monday evening.

The results from a recent survey by the city regarding a proposed rental registry licensing bylaw showed the issue continues to be hotly debated between landlords and tenants.
The survey aimed at gauging interest in the bylaw was launched on Oct. 26 and remained open until Dec. 23. A total of 1,457 responses were received by the city, an amount which pleased officials. Landlord, property managers, residents, and tenants were asked a series of questions relating to how they felt about a proposed rental registry system.
