Louisiana Nursing Homes Next In Line To Get COVID-19 Vaccine
Gov. John Bel Edwards announced that Louisiana nursing homes are next in live to receive COVID-19 vaccines before the end of the year.
The FDA has approved vaccines from Moderna and Phizer. The first round of shipments that made it to Louisiana were distributed to frontline workers and hospital personnel. The hardest hit segment of our communities by the coronavirus pandemic are the elderly in nursing homes, and local facilities are anxiously awaiting its arrival.
The Executive Director of Stonebridge Place, Ashlee Guidry, told KPLC their residents are ready to get the vaccine to not only return to a sense of normalcy but also to see their loved ones again. They ve partnered with CVS to help administer the vaccine to residents and staff when it arrives.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Food and Drug Administration, on Friday, authorized the coronavirus vaccine made by Moderna for emergency use.
This week, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced state nursing home residents are next in line for COVID-19 vaccines. Gov. Edwards said Louisiana will begin administering the vaccine before the end of the year.
COVID-19 has impacted millions of Americans but some of the hardest hit are those in nursing homes. Now that a vaccine is on the way, local facilities are awaiting its arrival.

SEC Enforcement Division Director Stephanie Avakian will be leaving her post and the agency by the end of this year, the commission announced Thursday. She departs after a four-year tenure as both co-director and director of the 1,400-person department.
Deputy Director Marc Berger will be stepping in as an acting head of the division in the interim. In total, the Division of Enforcement recommended more than 3,000 enforcement actions during Avakian’s tenure, obtaining more than $17 billion in financial remedies and returning about $3.6 billion to investors.
