Raleigh, NC (March 17, 2021) – Today, Wake Technical Community College joined nearly 40 institutions to launch the Taskforce on Higher Education and Opportunity. Wake Tech and Taskforce member partners are driven to act by the challenges caused by the pandemic, income inequality, the changing nature of work, and levels of unemployment among recent college graduates nearly double those seen in the 2008 recession. Today, the University of Arizona joined 38 higher education institutions and partner organizations to launch the Taskforce on Higher Education and Opportunity. The University of Arizona and task force member partners are driven to act by the challenges caused by the pandemic, income inequality, the changing nature of work and levels of unemployment among recent college graduates nearly double those seen in the 2008 recession. The impact of this crisis is falling unevenly across groups and disproportionately impacting people of color, no matter their educational backgrounds. The task force will provide greater opportunity to students and communities, while reimagining higher education s contribution to society and sharing insights with the broader education community.
2,000+ Flights Canceled in Denver Due to Winter Storm Xylia; Interstates Closed

More than a dozen roads in Colorado are shut down due to Winter Storm Xylia, including portions of two interstates.
The closures include Interstate 70 in both directions between Burlington and Limon and I25 in both directions from Wellington to the state line.
Other roads affected include several U.S. and state highways.
Air travel is being snarled, too. More than 2,000 flights were canceled this weekend at Denver International Airport.
The FAA urged travelers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

More than 1,300 flights were canceled into or out of Denver Sunday, after more than 700 were called off on Saturday. MOre than 125 have been canceled for Monday. United Airlines suspended all weekend flights out of Cheyenne Regional Airport in Wyoming.
